It is an honor and pleasure to serve as the president of the Sugar Creek Garden Club this year.
As we all are aware, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has affected all aspects of life in the United States and around the world. As this pandemic spreads, we see and live with the devastating impact it has on us all. With no effective treatment and no vaccine currently available, the most effective means of slowing the dissemination of COVID-19 is through social distancing, crowd avoidance, appropriate quarantine, and other techniques to limit community exposure. Let us all do our part to help keep everyone safe and as healthy as possible.
While the COVID-19 pandemic is an unprecedented challenge and is rapidly evolving, I am acutely aware that this crisis is putting a strain on our garden club and its’ many members. Despite these disruptions, our club can and will do our part to help see our wonderful Sugar Creek through this challenge and perhaps bring a little bit of “Home Sweet Home” to all of us.
Because the health, safety and well-being of our members is of paramount importance, I will have to make difficult decisions of when we can gather together as a group. That being said, SCGC project work over the past few months has been nothing short of amazing. During a time of isolation, our SCGC projects have done so much to help the neighborhood feel inspired, supported, and connected. I hope these “BLOOMING” moments captured by ongoing “PLANTING” projects inspire you.
I am so grateful for everyone’s support in what is going to be a difficult year. Member support comes through time, talent, or treasure. I’m up for the challenge friends because I’ll be bundling all those together and making 2020-2021 a year to remember!
